Forest valuation database
Forest valuation database
Description: As part of the EC-FAO Partnership Programme on Data Collection and Analysis, FAO has started to collect information about the value of the environmental benefits of forests. To date, this has focused on Africa, but the database will be expanded and refined to include other regions. In addition, it will be developed to include information about the value of other goods and services.
The database will only include studies where an estimate of the value of a forest product or service has been produced. Such figures will be included in the database so that they can be used for "benefits transfer" (i.e. their use in forestry policy and project appraisals in similar tyes of forest to those in the valuation study). The database will not include theoretical studies or studies that do not contain any value estimates.
Feedback on the database can be sent to adrian.whiteman@fao.org
