NFP Facility Partnership

Palau

The Partnership Agreement between the NFP Facility and Palau was finalized in 2005. The main objective of the partnership is to assist in designing and implementing Palau's national forest programme. Activities intended for implementation under the Agreement include: (i) developing forest policy and legislation through stakeholder workshops held to discuss opportunities, and reaching agreement on the objectives of the nfp; (ii) identifying forest areas for inclusion in the Protected Areas Network and developing forest monitoring systems; (iii) enhancing implementation through stakeholder dialogue and state and local community stakeholder capacity building and (iv) stimulating education and awareness on watershed management, forest fire management and biodiversity conservation.
